The Information Discovery Graph

The Information Discovery Graph (IDG) is an ongoing research project of the Internet Research Lab, a research group in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California Los Angeles. It is a framework for a distributed search engine, using a hierarchical taxonomy to partition the information space by semantic topic into non-overlapping segments. Each segment is then distributed to a separate manager, and client queries are transparently routed from manager to manager to find data sources that match the topics of interest.

The research challenges of the project are to design the framework and protocols for the system, with an eye towards scalability, adaptability, and robustness.
