About Me

I received my B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego in March 2000. I spent five years in the industry before I finally decided to pursue a further study. In September 2005, I started M.S. in Networked Systems at the University of California, Irvine. It was my pleasure to work with Dr. Xiaowei Yang and Dr. Tatsuya Suda while I was in UCI. Now, I received Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles (July 2011).

My advisor is Dr. Lixia Zhang, and I am interested in understanding and solving problems of today's Internet. Some say that the Internet research area has become less interesting, with which I do not agree. The Internet is constantly evolving, and in addition to the inherent problems, it is also facing very different new challenges.

I moved initially to New York, once again to New Jersey after finishing my Ph.D., and worked at AT&T Labs, Middletown, New Jersey. Recently in 2014, I joined SK Telecom (in Korea).

My Family

My wife completed her Ph.D. at Caltech in 2011. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, the Earth Institute component of Columbia University until Aug. 2012, and recently she's become the youngest assistant professor ever appointed in School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Seoul National University.

We have a baby boy.
